Masunaga

A company founded on craftsmanship in Fukui, Japan in 1905 by Gozaemon Masunaga.

As many as 200 manual processes are involved in making a Masunaga optical frame. Masunaga is involved in the entire production process from design, development of the raw materials to production and finish. This allows Masunaga to ensure the integrated process results in a product that exudes detail and quality.

The company’s mission is to manufacture “Excellent eye glasses.”

The factory has been visited by several Princes, Emperors and Prime Ministers in its history.

Frames are crafted in beta-titanium, gum-titanium, acetate, copper and gold. They often feature faceted rivets, five and seven barrel hinges, engraved temple cores, custom nose pads, etchings, elaborate arabesque details and sculpted temple-ends to create a luxurious feel that is lightweight.

Inspiration is drawn from its historical foundation to art deco architecture.

Masunaga have flagship stores in Japan in the areas of Aoyama Tokyo, Lachic Nagoya and Gakuenmae Nara.
